Job summary

Axoft in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Technical Staff, Microfabrication to join our on-site team manufacturing neural probes for brain–machine interfaces. We look for candidates with 2+ years in complex manufacturing in regulated environments, a science or engineering degree, and strong attention to detail, thorough documentation, and excellent communication.

ISO-13485 experience and cleanroom discipline are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Report progress to microfabrication team lead and discuss ongoing plans.
• Produce engineering documentation.

Technical Staff, Microfabrication

Report to: Microfabrication engineer

Axoft is building the most advanced and scalable platform for implantable brain-machine interface. Our mission is to enable minimally invasive, long-term stable and ultra-high bandwidth communication with the brain, opening new therapies and treatments against neurological disorders and physical imparities. We have bridged the gap between electronic and biological materials to create the softest, nanofabricated brain implants in the world. As a technical staff at Axoft, you will be working with the Axoft microfabrication team to manufacture the softest neural probes in the world. This job will be on-site at Cambridge, MA.

Key qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in complex manufacturing in a regulated environment. Semiconductor manufacturing experience is an advantage, but not required.
• A bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to remain focused while performing repetitive, delicate tasks such as wafer fabrication and electronics packaging.
• Attention to detail and ability to deliver reliable results in a timely manner, including thorough documentation.
• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing, such as lithography, etching, thin film deposition
• Experience with cleanroom environment and protocols
• Experience with electronics packaging such as flip-chip bonding and wire-bonding.
• Experience with manufacturing in an environment governed by ISO-13485 or ISO-9001 standards.
• Experience with soft materials handling and patterning.

Your responsibilities

• Perform wafer fabrication and electronics packaging to produce brain-computer interface devices.
• Maintain cleanroom protocol and discipline, including proper gowning, contamination control, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Report to microfabrication team lead about ongoing progress and discuss ongoing plans.
• Produce engineering documentation.
