Job summary

Hurco Companies, Inc. is seeking a Technical Specialist to support Hurco and Takumi product lines. You will diagnose and resolve complex CNC hardware and software issues, work with distributors and field service engineers, and provide training on new products and technologies.

The role requires strong CNC service experience, knowledge of CNC controls and PLCs, and a customer-focused approach. Some travel will be required to support field activities and service improvements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of CNC machine tool service experience.
• Strong knowledge of CNC operation, electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to train others and explain technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, professional technical support over the phone.

• Create and distribute technical documentation, including guides and service bulletins.
• Expedite parts orders to minimize machine downtime.

Job description

Hurco Companies, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Technical Specialist to support our Hurco and Takumi product lines. This position serves as a key technical resource for customers, distributors, Field Service Engineers, and internal teams by providing technical support, troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues, and helping drive solutions to recurring product and service concerns.

The ideal candidate will have strong CNC machine service experience, a solid understanding of CNC controls and PLCs, and the ability to troubleshoot problems effectively while providing exceptional customer support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the customer experience by providing timely, professional, and effective technical support over the phone.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex hardware, software, CNC control, PLC, and machine-related issues.
• Identify recurring product and service issues and develop action plans to improve reliability and reduce repeat problems.
• Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of Hurco and Takumi products and accurately identify replacement parts for the entire product line.
• Work closely with Field Service Engineers, distributors, customers, Engineering, and other internal teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Some travel to customer locations, as needed, to assist Field Service with the diagnosis and repair of Hurco and Takumi products.
• Provide technical support and training to distributors, service engineers, and customers on new products, controls, and technologies.
• Develop, maintain, and distribute technical documentation, including standard work instructions, machine start-up and demonstration guides, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting information, and service bulletins.
• Follow up on and expedite parts orders to support emergent repairs and minimize machine downtime.
• When assigned, develop and deliver Technical Service Training Programs for Field Service Engineers, distributors, and customers.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and CNC troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to develop a working technical knowledge of the complete Hurco and Takumi product lines through company training and hands‑on experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical information clearly to customers, distributors, and service personnel with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple customer and service issues in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a customer‑focused team.
• Strong customer-service mindset and commitment to resolving issues and minimizing customer downtime.
• Ability to support, administer, and enforce applicable Company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of CNC machine tool service experience.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time during the first year for training and product familiarization.
• After the first year, ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time, as needed.
