Job summary

The City of Indianola is seeking a full-time Technical Services Librarian to oversee day-to-day circulation and provide support for cataloging, acquisitions, processing, and collection maintenance.

Under the Director's supervision, the role ensures excellent service to library users, trains staff in circulation tasks, and maintains the library's ILS and related systems. MLS preferred; Iowa certification required within a year.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; MLS preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in a library or with targeted age groups.
• Proficiency with computers and online resources.
• Must have Public Library Staff Certification with the State of Iowa or become certified within one year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily circulation operations and resolve patron account issues.
• Monitor circulation activity and address materials and service issues.
• Train Library Assistants in circulation tasks.
• Manage the library's ILS, print management systems, and circulation software; resolve tech issues.
• Serve as liaison with automation vendors, sales reps, and City tech staff for updates.
• Develop, implement, and manage cataloging, processing, and overdue procedures.
