Job summary

New Value Solutions is seeking a Technical Services Engineer to support electric power system protection and automation products. The role involves customer-facing technical support, site visits, and remote assistance to ensure successful deployments and training.

You will work with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams to translate customer needs into product features, while developing expert knowledge of the company’s solutions. Willingness to travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
  • 5–10 years of experience working with protective relays and recorders.
  • Strong working knowledge of electric power systems, practices, and protection philosophies.
  • Working knowledge of protective relay applications within a utility or engineering firm environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant electric utility and power-system industry practices.
  • Experience with EMTP, load flow, and short-circuit studies.
  • Demonstrated customer-service skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong technical training, presentation, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% within the United States, Canada, and internationally.

  • Assist in preparing and presenting technical proposals for products, services, and systems.
  • Serve as a secondary contact for primarily technical matters.
  • Assist customers with installation, commissioning, and operation of systems on-site and remotely.
  • Participate in industry meetings such as NASPI and IEEE PSRC.
  • Contribute to manuals, datasheets, ordering guides, and other technical documentation.
  • Support Marketing, Sales, Application Engineering, and Product Development activities.

Job description

New Value Solutions (NVS), a national IT consulting firm, is seeking a Technical Services Engineer to provide customer-facing technical support for electric power system protection and automation products. The engineer will serve as a key technical interface with customers, provide application and product support, assist with commissioning and training, and work closely with Sales, Marketing, Application Engineering, and Product Development teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Help customers successfully apply protection and automation products through site visits, demonstrations, technical training, and remote support.
  • Meet with customers to understand required product features and provide relevant market and customer feedback to the Marketing team.
  • Work with the Technical Services team to resolve customer issues through application notes, technical papers, responses to customer questions, and remote demonstrations.
  • Identify customer service trends, potential system improvements, and opportunities to strengthen customer support.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting technical proposals for products, services, and systems.
  • Serve as a secondary customer contact for primarily technical matters.
  • Assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of systems, both on-site and remotely.
  • Participate in industry technical meetings and organizations such as NASPI and IEEE PSRC.
  • Provide technical input for manuals, datasheets, ordering guides, and other customer-facing technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Application Engineering, and Product Development activities.
  • Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of products and solutions for electric power system protection and automation.
  • Complete assigned work within agreed schedules and budgets while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Assume project management responsibilities on assigned projects.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities when assigned.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
  • 5–10 years of experience working with protective relays and recorders.
