Job description

New Value Solutions (NVS), a national IT consulting firm, is seeking a Manager, Technical Services to provide strategic leadership and direction for a Technical Services department supporting electric power system protection and automation products. The manager will lead a team of Technical Services Engineers, maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction, support Sales and other business functions, and contribute technical expertise to customer engagements and product development initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Technical Services function.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Technical Services Engineers providing technical support to customers.
  • Plan and manage departmental workloads to ensure timely delivery of customer support and technical services.
  • Maintain high service standards by resolving customer issues, improving processes, and driving continuous service improvements.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction as a primary departmental objective.
  • Support customers through product demonstrations, training, application guidance, and technical consultations.
  • Work with the Technical Services team to resolve customer concerns through application notes, remote demonstrations, and other technical support activities.
  • Prepare product presentations, competitive comparisons, and technical materials supporting business development initiatives.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of technical proposals for products, services, and solutions.
  • Develop close working relationships with customers and act as a senior technical contact for customer inquiries and escalations.
  • Assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of systems both remotely and on-site.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and technical forums such as NASPI and IEEE PSRC.
  • Contribute to customer-facing technical documentation including manuals, datasheets, and ordering guides.
  • Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Application Engineering, and Product Development teams.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support customer needs and contribute to the development and implementation of new products.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
  • 15 years of experience working with numerical relays and recorders.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, and developing a technical team.
  • Expert knowledge of system protection, system integration, and automation applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of electric power systems, practices, and protection philosophies.
  • Strong working knowledge of protective relay applications within utility and/or engineering environments.
  • Experience with EMTP, load flow, and short-circuit studies.
  • Knowledge of advanced communication protocols and communication system architecture.
  • Strong professional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult customer or employee discussions while protecting company interests.
  • Experience working with utility companies, consulting organizations, and/or engineering companies is considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer-service delivery, departmental workflow, and technical priorities.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the United States and internationally.
  • Candidates must meet the work-eligibility requirements associated with the position.
