Job description

Position Overview: As a Technical Service Engineer Consultant, you will be responsible for managing complex product issues to resolution as the project lead and assist in identifying root cause and corrective actions for trucks with warranty claims, technical case files, and other early warning indicators. This is an engineering and technical role working with our dealer network to understand repair issues arising within our customers’ vehicles, working with engineering to identify a solution for trucks in both post and pre-production to ensure maximum uptime for our customers. Potential areas of responsibility will be the vehicle powertrain and/or vehicle electrical architecture (to include diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and other subsystems within the chassis) and may get exposure to other systems as well.

Responsibilities:
  1. Research, develop and implement service repair plans for vehicles in the field.
  2. Assist and support the launch of vehicles that provide value to our customers reducing warranty and downtime.
  3. Upfront involvement in the Product Development Process to ensure the Voice of the Customer is heard through serviceability requirements in the new product.
  4. Present and report status to upper level management of activities and issues.
  5. Provide effective resolution of dealer and fleet complaints.
  6. Write technical reports and develop baseline diagnostics.
  7. Liaison between Customer Service Organization and engineering Systems Management Team.
  8. Develop and demonstrate competencies with Statistical Problem Solving Strategies and Tools.
  9. Actively involved in Project Management activities.
  10. Select, direct, and coordinate activities of service organization to maintain high level of vehicle availability and uptime.
  11. Manage or review dashboards and scorecards for daily visibility around group metrics and customer needs.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience OR
  2. Master’s degree and at least 3 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience OR
  3. At least 7 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience.
Additional Requirements:

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment-related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status).

Benefits and Compensation:

Degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology is strongly preferred. Excellent presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills. Approachable with excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively across diverse teams. Able to operate with a minimum of supervision and with an ownership mindset. Familiarity with VisMockUp, CAD, Teamcenter or other engineering drawing systems. Navistar/International Service Information System. Statistical Problem Solving/Six Sigma Certification. Global 8D ASE Certification a plus. General PC proficiency required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Ability to multitask and manage quickly changing objectives and priorities. Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude. Preferred Medium and/or Heavy-Duty truck experience. Microsoft Teams and Power BI experience helpful. Data processing experience. Understanding of basic EV system architecture and components.
