Technical Service Engineer / Applications Engineer (Thermoplastic Polyurethanes Industry)

Are you an experienced technical professional with expertise in thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) and film extrusion? Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a leading chemical manufacturing company with a high-growth TPU business focused on industrial applications.

About Our Client: Our client is an established chemical manufacturing company with a global presence that offers a collaborative, integrated team culture with less corporate bureaucracy than larger competitors. They provide access to global R&D resources and cross-regional collaboration while maintaining a small, agile team environment.

The Opportunity: This newly created Technical Service Engineer role offers significant career progression potential. The position balances technical problem-solving (30-40% of time) with driving new business and commercial growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical service support to customers, building strong relationships while demonstrating the differentiation of the company's elastomers
• Participate in and lead customer trials to effectively demonstrate technology/products that result in successful sales
• Plan and implement laboratory projects to develop new products or modify existing products/applications
• Support elastomers development teams when newly developed products need customer validation
• Conduct laboratory investigations to resolve technical service challenges or product development
• Prepare well-written, concise reports with rigorous data analysis
• Maintain state-of-the-art technical knowledge on company and competitive products
• Coach, counsel, and mentor junior technical associates and technicians

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Plastic Engineering, Polymers, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science
• Minimum 5 years of professional technical experience with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethanes), with specific expertise in film extrusion
• Experience in customer-facing technical roles with the ability to interview both technical and non-technical personnel
• Applied knowledge of how material characteristics affect processing and the final product
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Experience with extrusion processes.
