Job description

Washing Systems, LLC (WSI), now part of the Kao family of companies, seeks a highly self-motivated Technical Sales Representative (TSR) to join our team working out of Portland, ME. WSI is the largest supplier of commercial laundry detergents in North America, providing high-quality commercial laundry and chemical products to both uniform and linen rental companies.

The TSR will work remotely and on client sites within the assigned territory, responsible for providing technical solutions for plant operations, identifying and executing sales opportunities through data analysis, and developing long-term relationships with management at customer sites. This role is crucial as it represents our organization and the excellent service that drives our growth. The ideal candidate will have strong technical or mechanical skills, field service experience, excellent technological aptitude, and problem-solving abilities.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  1. Promote and sell the full product line to existing customers
  2. Develop a key prospect list, establish relationships, and acquire new customers
  3. Maintain appropriate sales coverage within your territory
  4. Provide service, maintenance, and communication for 6-10 accounts
  5. Install and program WSI chemical dosing equipment
  6. Plan and execute new installations and conversions
  7. Maintain company equipment in proper condition
  8. Operate within the assigned expense budget
  9. Collect past due accounts receivable, if applicable
  10. Eliminate rush orders of products
  11. Submit reports timely

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Mechanical, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years industry-related experience; military background a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, and order processing software
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds
  • Close vision and focus adjustment required
  • Frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands, and communicate

Work Environment:

  • At least 50% travel to customer sites
  • Plant environment may include wet/humid conditions, extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals
  • Moderate noise level, potentially loud in production areas
