About Envoy

Envoy Development helps process manufacturers turn plant data into practical improvements in reliability, operating consistency, and performance. Our process intelligence platform combines software, analytics, and engineering expertise to help teams identify meaningful issues, establish effective operating targets, and pursue improvement opportunities.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced specialty chemical process engineer who enjoys building relationships and wants to help grow a new market for Envoy. This is a sales-focused role with technical service and customer relationship responsibilities. You will introduce Envoy to specialty chemical manufacturers across the Southeast, connect plant challenges to our capabilities, and guide opportunities from initial conversation through a signed agreement and successful customer adoption.

The ideal candidate brings approximately 5-10 years of plant process engineering experience and, preferably, experience selling to specialty chemical facilities. Strong engineers with customer-facing ability and a clear interest in developing a sales career are encouraged to apply.

Sales and business development
  • Develop a territory plan, identify target plants, and build a qualified pipeline through outreach, industry contacts, referrals, and facility visits.
  • Meet with plant managers, process engineers, operations leaders, and other decision-makers to understand priorities, buying processes, and operational challenges.
  • Present and demonstrate Envoy’s process intelligence platform, translating technical capabilities into clear customer value.
  • Work with Envoy’s team to define applications, quantify potential benefits, and prepare proposals covering scope, pricing, and expected outcomes.
  • Own follow-up, opportunity progression, commercial discussions, and closing activities; maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts.
What success looks like

Success will be measured primarily by qualified pipeline development, new customer wins, and revenue growth, supported by successful customer adoption, retention, and expansion.

Technical service and customer relationships
  • Use your engineering experience to identify opportunities involving process variability, yield, throughput, quality, energy use, and equipment reliability.
  • Help define initial use cases, relevant process data, and success measures; coordinate onboarding and implementation with Envoy’s engineering and technical teams.
  • Maintain customer relationships after the sale, support training and performance reviews, and coordinate resolution of technical questions.
  • Identify renewal and expansion opportunities, document customer results, and bring specialty chemical requirements back to Envoy’s product team.
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, with approximately 5-10 years of hands-on process engineering experience in specialty chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong process engineering fundamentals, including mass and energy balances, heat transfer, fluid flow, and relevant unit operations; practical experience troubleshooting and improving plant performance.
  • Ability to interpret process flow diagrams and P&IDs, analyze historical operating data, and understand instrumentation, process controls, and operating limits.
  • Working knowledge of plant safety practices, process hazard analysis, management of change, and disciplined implementation of process improvements.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills, with the ability to earn credibility with plant personnel and explain technical findings in business terms.
  • Initiative, organization, and commercial curiosity; willingness to prospect, build new relationships, pursue sales goals, and manage a regional territory independently.
  • Residence in the Southeast U.S. and ability to travel regularly to chemical manufacturing facilities and meet customer site safety requirements.
Preferred qualifications
  • Technical sales, business development, applications engineering, or account management experience calling on specialty chemical facilities, especially in the Southeast.
  • Established relationships with chemical plant engineering, operations, or management teams, and experience with proposals, ROI analysis, and industrial purchasing processes.
  • Experience with batch or continuous chemical processes, process historians such as PI or dataPARC, statistical analysis, process optimization, or industrial software.
