Job summary

NSF is seeking a Technical Reviewer II for Product Certification (Materials - Food Contact Evaluation) to perform product reviews and evaluations against established regulations and standards. You will handle documentation, testing results, and QA reviews while supporting account managers and clients with technical guidance.

The role requires a chemistry-related bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of experience, with strong communication and organizational skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform certification and registration reviews of products, client documentation and test reports against established policies/guidelines/standards/regulations.
• Determine required follow-up for certification/non-certification; registration/non-registration (if applicable).
• Determine required compliance testing and evaluation; document testing results as required for certification or registration services.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of documentation/inspection reports/Test reports against established guidelines/standards; determine required follow-up for certification/non-certification; registration/non-registration (if applicable).
• Serve as mentor/trainer and provide technical support for Account Managers to improve technical understanding, competency, and application.
• Contact clients/suppliers to review findings and outstanding issues, and provide technical support by clarifying any technical requirements and issues as needed.
• Create product summaries, findings and other certification documents.
• Represent NSF at industry events such as trade shows, conferences and meetings.
• Actively participate in accreditation activities, as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• General knowledge of the food industry, food contact materials and food contact regulations
• Working knowledge of US Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR) indirect food additives, Food Contact Notifications (FCN), Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), Safer Choice, Threshold of Regulation (TOR) and/or EC 1935/2004
• Knowledge and coursework in chemistry and biology with basic knowledge of toxicology principles
• Knowledge of aquatic and human health hazard assessment
