Qualifications

  • Five-year work history in food industry, processing, or manufacturing.
  • HACCP training per Codex Alimentarius principles, minimum 2 days.
  • 2+ years of auditing experience (80 hours minimum).

Job description

Technical Reviewer II is an experienced technical professional responsible for conducting technical reviews, making certification decisions, performing application reviews, and providing technical expertise related to audit scope determination, audit duration requirements, and category classifications across multiple certification schemes. The preferred certification schemes include SQFI and at least one additional GFSI-recognized scheme from the following: BRCGS, FSSC 22000, or IFS. This role applies advanced technical knowledge and professional judgment to evaluate audit findings, nonconformities, corrective actions, and certification recommendations, ensuring they are supported by objective evidence and comply with applicable scheme, accreditation, and certification body requirements.

Responsibilities

Review audit reports, corrective actions, and supporting documentation for completeness and technical accuracy.

Verify that auditor findings are supported by objective evidence.

Ensure audit durations, audit scope, audit activities, and audit documentation comply with applicable scheme and accreditation requirements.

Confirm non-conformities are appropriately classified and documented.

Ensure scoring and certification recommendations align with scheme requirements.

Conduct independent certification decision reviews to determine whether certification requirements have been met and ensure certification recommendations are supported by objective evidence and comply with applicable scheme, accreditation, and certification body requirements.

Perform application reviews to verify the accuracy and completeness of client information and ensure the appropriate certification scheme, scope, category classification, and audit program requirements are identified prior to audit scheduling.

Complete all assigned responsibilities in accordance with established key performance indicators (KPIs), meeting productivity, quality, and turnaround time expectations.

Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Participate in calibration activities and training sessions.

Support improvement initiatives related to audit quality and consistency.

Document common report deficiencies and provide feedback to management.

Qualifications
  • University degree in Food Science, Food Technology or related discipline.
  • Successfully complete the “SQF Auditing SQF Systems” training course (4 days) OR complete a registered “Management System Lead Auditor” training course of forty hours duration AND the “Auditing SQF Systems” course (3 days) or the “Auditing the SQF Code Requirements” virtual training course.
  • Lead Auditor course in any of the following schemes: BRC, FSSC 22000, IFS.
  • Certification training and qualifications in two or more GFSI-recognized certification schemes.
  • Five-year work history in food industry, food handling, processing, or manufacturing.
  • Training in the principles and application of a HACCP system based on the Annex of the Codex Alimentarius Commission General Principles of Food Hygiene. This training shall be for a minimum of 2 days.
  • 2+ years of auditing experience (80 hours minimum).

Salary Range: $49,000 - $83,000

The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At NSF, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
