Job description

NSF is a globally recognized organization for public health standards. We conduct testing, auditing, and certification, supported by accredited labs. Additionally, we provide top-tier consulting and training for brands and businesses. NSF is currently seeking a Research Toxicologist to join our team. As a Research Toxicologist you will be responsible for preparing human health hazard and risk assessment documents, as well as other evaluations that require assessments of human health impacts. You will offer toxicological expertise and technical guidance for daily operations, new business development, and improvement initiatives in assigned areas.

Responsibilities

Assist staff in preparing chemical hazard and risk assessments and related health effects evaluations
Conduct health effects evaluation work using published safety data (quantitative), structure activity relationships and best read-across practices with minimal oversight
Actively participate in the preparation and conduct of NSF Health Advisory Board meetings
Engage in Joint Peer Review Steering Committee activities and project work to facilitate harmonization in risk assessment development and peer review processes
Support new business development initiatives by participating in proposal preparation, engaging in technical discussions with potential clients and producing high-quality work products
Identify, recommend and assist with implementation of continuous improvement opportunities
Promote NSF's toxicology expertise and capabilities by actively participating in local, regional, and national professional society meetings, trade shows, and relevant events
Serve as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders regarding all risk assessment and health effects evaluation needs
Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Master's degree in toxicology or closely related field and a minimum of three years relevant work experience are required
Ability to identify, collect, and summarize pertinent data
Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing publishable technical documents with minimal editing
Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a goal-oriented atmosphere
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Experience with public speaking and presentations

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with EPA risk assessment guidelines and methodology
Knowledge of EPA/FDA/OECD guidelines for conducting various types of toxicity tests in microorganisms and laboratory animals
Experience working with dietary supplements, ingredients, and personal care products
Familiarity with in-silico chemical risk assessment tools including US EPA EpiSuite, OECD Toolbox, etc.
A Doctorate degree in toxicology or closely related field is preferred with a minimum of one-year relevant work experience
