Job Summary

Work under the general supervision of a Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, conducts a variety of routine experiments. Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data using basic statistics.

Essential Functions

1. Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols.
2. Recruits and evaluates potential study patients.
3. Per protocol instruction, conducts telephone interviews, schedules patient for study visits, and perform clinical symptom rating scales.
4. Interact with patients/subjects with regard to study, including patient education, procedural instruction, follow-up.
5. May serve as a liaison between patient and physician.
6. Responsible for collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study.
7. May be required to input data, do minimum analysis and run various reports.
8. Maintains patients records as part of record keeping function.
9. Responsible for mailing various study information or packets to study participants.
10. Answers phone calls and inquiries regarding study protocol.
11. Refers participants when appropriate to supervisor or clinical staff.
12. Monitors and sets up any needed equipment.
13. Maintains inventory and orders supplies when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Performs cell culture, primary neuron culture, iPSC culture maintenance, and in vitro assays, examine protein expression level by ELISA and western blot.
2. Performs genetic, biochemical and phenotype tests.
3. Executes general molecular biology e.g. cloning, plasmid preps, genomic DNA and RNA isolation, PCR.
4. Contributes to design of research protocols along with research associates; troubleshoots problems as they arise; initiates alternative protocols/approaches and modifies existing technique for better efficiency.
5. Maintains complete and accurate record of experimentation. Assists in the planning/development of daily and long-term research projects; assists in manuscript and meeting preparation.
6. Maintains resource inventories.
7. Performs all other duties/responsibilities as directed.
8. Coordinates daily schedule of experiments. Responsible for data management: collects, records, tabulates and presents data. Creates graphs of experiments, performs statistical tests, and discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.
9. Works independently, under minimal supervision.
10. Executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level.
11. Develops modification of existing techniques, as appropriate.
12. In collaboration with other members of the research team, gives input to research design.
13. Calculates, transcribes, and graphs data.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required, in a related research setting.

Experience: Must have experience in wet labs preferably with cell line/iPSC work. Experience working with tools or skills relevant to digital mental health such as app development, programming, data analytics and visualization preferred.

11. Strong database statistical skills, written and verbal presentation skills.
12. Attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills, ability to evaluate and organize data for presentation, good oral and written communication skills.
