Job summary

Komline is seeking an Estimator, Inside Sales Applications Engineer to collaborate with the sales team, develop cost estimates, and prepare detailed technical proposals for customized machining solutions. The role requires a mechanical engineering background and experience in cost estimation, with strong drafting and MS Office skills.

You will work with Engineering and Manufacturing to craft accurate quotations, assist with proposal drawings, and support market studies and promotional activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 5+ years of machine cost estimating experience or equivalent.
• Demonstrated skills in mechanical design and understanding of mechanical systems.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word and Excel) and drafting experience with AutoCAD.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to resolve detailed issues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet stakeholder expectations.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and comprehensive quotes for products.
• Perform preliminary system sizing quotations for custom machinery (filter tank volumes, pump sizing, temperature control).
• Contact suppliers to obtain component pricing.
• Join Sales Reps at customer sites to gather project information.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to include inputs in quotations and proposals.
• Assist in creating proposal drawings as needed.
• Conduct market studies and product analyses as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Estimator, Inside Sales Applications Engineer (Inside Sales) will collaborate closely with the sales team to comprehend customer needs, provide cost estimation, recommendation of appropriate solutions, and develop detailed technical proposals for customized machining solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and comprehensive written quotes for products
• Perform preliminary system sizing quotations of custom machinery including filter tank volumes, pump sizing, and temperature control units
• Contact suppliers to obtain key component pricing
• Accompany Sales Representatives to customer sites to gather detailed project information
• Utilize technical knowledge to clarify terminology and supply or obtain missing information from Sales Representatives
• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to incorporate their inputs into quotations and coordinate pricing for proposals
• Assist in creating proposal drawings as needed
• Conduct special projects such as market studies, product analysis, marketing communications, and promotional activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of experience in machine cost estimating or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated skills in mechanical design, including knowledge of mechanical systems and principles
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve detailed issues
• Ability to prioritize competing priorities to meet expectations of stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to travel up to 10%
