Komline seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and controls for industrial equipment, ensuring UL 508A compliance and ISO 9001 alignment. You will oversee from concept through factory testing and field commissioning, mentoring juniors and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

You will design control systems, develop schematics and BOMs, program PLCs/HMI, and support field inspections across North American projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of electrical design experience for industrial equipment.
• 7+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience designing industrial control panels to UL 508A.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
• Proficiency programming PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD tool.
• Experience with VFDs, motor control, instrumentation and industrial networks.
• Strong documentation, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to travel to customer sites for startup and commissioning.

Responsabilités

• Lead electrical design for industrial equipment and control systems, including power distribution and wiring.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, BOMs and P&IDs in CAD tools.
• Size components for 50/60 Hz markets.
• Translate customer specs into electrical/controls scopes for proposals.
• Support manufacturing, troubleshoot assembly issues and drive ECOs.
• Design control system architecture: PLC, HMI, remote I/O, networks.
• Write, test and document PLC/HMI programs (AB and Siemens).
• Ensure UL 508A compliance for panels and ISO processes.
• Prepare for UL field inspections and resolve findings.
• Mentor junior engineers and set design standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, PM, purchasing, manufacturing, service.

Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the electrical design, controls and automation for Komline's equipment, from concept through factory testing and field commissioning. This role owns electrical compliance with UL standards and supports our ISO quality management system, making sure every panel and machine we ship is safe, certifiable and built right the first time

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for industrial equipment and control systems, including power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, instrumentation and wiring
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, bills of material, I/O lists, and P&ID drawings in CAD software (ex. AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical)
• Size and select components such as breakers, contactors, transformers, drives, sensors and enclosures for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz markets
• Review customer specifications and P&IDs and turn them into clear electrical and controls scopes for proposals and projects
• Support manufacturing, troubleshooting assembly issues and drive design changes through engineering change orders (ECOs)
• Design control system architecture for new equipment and upgrades, including PLC, HMI, remote I/O and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet).
• Write, test and document PLC and HMI programs (e.g., Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal)
• Own design compliance for industrial control panels built to UL 508A and support the shop's UL panel program and listing marks.
• Prepare for and support UL field inspections and resolve any findings.
• Follow and improve ISO 9001 quality management processes for design control, document control, change management and corrective action
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and review their designs and programs.
• Set and maintain electrical and controls design standards across product lines.
• Work closely with mechanical engineering, project management, purchasing, manufacturing and service.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, consultants and vendors

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of electrical design experience for industrial equipment, machinery or process systems
• 7+ years of manufacturing experience
• Hands-on experience designing industrial control panels to UL 508A
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system
• Proficiency programming PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or a similar electrical CAD tool
• Experience with VFDs, motor control, instrumentation and industrial communication networks
• Strong documentation, problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to travel to customer sites for startup and commissioning

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with water and wastewater treatment, filtration, drying or other processing industries
• Background in SCADA development and system integration
• Prior experience leading or mentoring a small engineering team
