Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking a Technical Project Manager II to oversee the technical aspects of complex projects, including communication, schedule, budget, and scope. The role focuses on engineering deliverables for Microgrid offerings manufactured in NC facilities in RTP and Randleman.

Requires 5+ years in technical design and PM, engineering degree, PMP preferred, strong communication, and ERP/MRP familiarity; travel 10–15% annually. This hybrid position offers competitive benefits.

  • Coordinate daily with Production Engineering for engineering and documentation of systems.
  • Conduct design reviews before release to Manufacturing and final sign-off.

Description

Job Summary:

The primary duties of a Technical Project Manager II are to oversee the technical aspects of projects and be responsible for communication, schedule, budget, scope, and completion of engineering deliverables. These projects support our Microgrid offers/solutions such as low and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards, and distributed energy resources (DERs) manufactured at our RTP and Randleman, NC facilities.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • 5+ years of industry experience in technical design and Project management roles
  • Bachelor’s in engineering or related field (will consider equivalent experience)
  • Experience in the power industry is a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to critically analyze problems and develop effective resolutions
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Familiar with a variety of engineering disciplines – Mechanical, Electrical,
    systems, and software
  • Ability to quickly respond to change based on cross-functional inputs – adapting accordingly and positively
  • Proficient with M.S. Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Experienced in using an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MRP systems
  • Soft/interpersonal skills: communication (verbal and written), collaboration, ability to overcome roadblocks, and problem-solving.
  • Be able to travel occasiona.ly (10-15(20%) times per year)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a single point of contact between the Production Engineering Team and other project stakeholders such as Manufacturing, Construction, Procurement, and Applications Engineers
  • Work closely with the DI Microgrid Engineering Disciplines, attend/schedule project-related meetings and design reviews.
  • Establish internal design schedules and milestones for various Product
    Development and High Visibility projects.
  • Coordinate closely and daily with the Production Engineering Teams for the engineering and documentation of the systems as defined in the project scope, including but not limited to record drawings and product specifications.
  • Conduct Design Reviews on deliverables before release to Manufacturing – Final Signoff before production release

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;
    reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear.
  • For the most part, the work environment includes ambient room temperatures,
    well-lit work areas, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office
    environment. Office environment with shared spaces. Employees will also be
    required to go to the manufacturing floor to gather information needed to
    complete the job as necessary.
