Job summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a Technical Project Manager for a contract assignment in Orlando, FL with a hospitality client. The role requires guiding IT and business projects, managing scope, schedule, and risk, and leading cross-functional teams within PMO processes.

The position emphasizes communication, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, and governance across multiple business areas, with a hybrid work model in Orlando. A PMP or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Project Management role with a background in team development.
  • 2+ years in an information technology capacity with understanding of MS Office Suite (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of project management life cycle and systems development lifecycle (Iterative, Agile, Waterfall).
  • Understanding of applications, databases, networking, telecommunications and connectivity, and security/compliance.
  • Basic familiarity with Clarity or other PM software.
  • Leadership capabilities and ability to influence clients and teams.
  • Ability to understand business/client environments and systems and connectivity options.
  • General business acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of PM tools, techniques and practices.
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver all phases of complex assignments.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and planning ability.
  • Ability to interact with senior management.
  • Decision making authority within scope, schedule and budget; escalation as needed.
  • Autonomy within approved scope; limited autonomy outside with direction.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement projects and resolve issues.
  • No direct reports but matrix supervisory responsibilities for project roles (5–25 people).
  • Responsible for schedule, scope and cost; projects range months to multi-year.

Responsibilities

  • Develops communication plan to provide continuous communication to the project team, customers, and sponsors regarding status.
  • Identifies resources needed to complete work and collaborates with resource manager to assemble skills/teams; manages issues, risks, changes using PMO processes.
  • Determines project schedules, identifies critical path and risks; enforces delivery standards; leads team to maintain work plans.
  • Facilitates project reviews and retrospectives; provides information for audits, status reports, and Exec Reviews.
  • Forecasts, manages, and reports on project finances, schedules, and resources; understands revenue models and cost to completion.
  • Manages funding documentation and works with Strategic Sourcing/Contracts to prepare RFPs, MSAs & SOWs.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives and PMO onboarding activities.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Job description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Technical Project Manager for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Hospitality clients in Orlando, FL (Hybrid).

Summary

Provides the required leadership on multiple internal IT or business projects – including financial, scope, schedule and risk management responsibilities. Creates and executes project work plans and revises them accordingly to meet changing needs and adapting the established project management processes and methodology. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of business projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of an Information Technology and Business project teams which are assigned. Works across multiple business areas to manage both IT and business deliverables. Participates in PMO process improvement initiatives and supports PM on-boarding for new staff.

Responsibilities
  • Develops communication plan to provide continuous communication to the project team members, customers, and project sponsors regarding the status of the project.(25% time)
  • Identifies resources needed to complete work and collaborates with resource manager(s) to assemble appropriate skills/teams and resources. Manages issues, risks, and changes using appropriate and agreed upon processes and tools established within the Project Management Office. (10% time)
  • Determines the project schedules, identifies the critical path and potential risks. Effectively applies the delivery methodology and scheduling standards and enforces them with the project teams. Leads Project Team to maintain project work plans and drafts required deliverables. (15% time)
  • Facilitates/participates in project reviews and retrospectives, provides information for audits, status reports, and Executive Review meetings. (10% time)
  • Forecasts, manages, and reports on project financials, planned and actual project schedule, and resources utilization. Understands basic revenues models and cost to completion projections making decisions accordingly. (15% time)
  • Manages development and processing of funding documentation to meet finance and PMO requirements and process. Works with Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Team to prepare RFPs, MSAs & SOWs. (15% time)
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives and PMO onboarding activities. (5% time)

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related discipline and/or experience (Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement)
  • 2+ years of experience in a Project Management role with a background in team development.
  • 2+ years in an information technology capacity with understanding of various technologies including, Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products, (i.e. Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Knowledge of project management life cycle and systems development lifecycle (i.e. Iterative, Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Understanding of various technologies including, applications, databases, networking,
  • telecommunications and connectivity, and security and compliance.
  • Basic familiarity with Clarity or other Portfolio/Program Management Software
  • applications, databases, networking, telecommunications, and connectivity.
  • Leadership capabilities, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with and influence clients, team members, management, and external groups.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the business/client environment and systems, connectivity and application technological alternatives.

  • Decision making authority within the project scope, schedule and budget with team input. Responsibility to elevate decisions as needed with executive and/or senior leadership as appropriate. Documentation as required with PM processes.
  • Full autonomy within the bounds of approved scope, schedule, and budget of assigned projects and areas related to the development of the work plans and communication plans.
  • Limited autonomy outside of the approved bounds of assigned projects, position must receive direction on key project decisions affecting schedule, cost, and/or budget are reviewed and decided by project executive sponsor to ensure the best interests of the corporation are driving the decision making process.
  • The Project Manager will work with cross-functional teams to successfully implement projects a facilitate resolution of problems/issues that arise during execution.
  • This position has no direct reports, but will have matrix supervisory responsibilities as it pertains to project roles with project teams varying in size from 5 to 25 people.
  • Responsible for schedule, scope, and financial cost of assigned projects. Schedule will vary depending on defined scope with typical projects running anywhere from several months to multiple year initiatives.
  • Financial costs of projects can run up to a million dollars, be of medium complexity and visibility based on technologies used, vendor engagement, project approach, and business impact. Depending on Business Unit Sponsor, projects will have varying impact on revenue and profit / expense for the organization
