Job summary

Lam Research is seeking a Technical Program Manager to orchestrate breakthroughs in new product development, leading cross-functional teams from initiation through delivery. You’ll plan, direct, and monitor schedules and budgets to drive successful product cost and performance outcomes.

You will work with supply chain, operations, and engineering stakeholders to ensure supplier readiness, manage cost roadmaps, and deliver high-quality products on schedule in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with no prior professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience in continuous improvement or technical program management.
• Experience guiding cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels of the company.

The impact you’ll make

As a Technical Program Manager at Lam, you are not just overseeing projects - you’re orchestrating breakthroughs in support of developing and releasing new products. You’ll lead cross-functional teams through successful project execution blending your technical excellence with strategic planning to deliver new or upgraded products. Your role is vital, owning technical projects from initiation through delivery using your expertise in planning, directing, and monitoring schedules and budgets.

What You’ll Do

• Forms and leads cross-functional teams (comprised of Supply Chain, Operations, and other members as required) to define sourcing strategies and sourcing plans for new products, including recommendations for new supplier selection & evaluation as part of Pilot Organization.
• Serves as the single point of contact to the Supply Chain team to confirm supplier readiness in terms of production capacity and approved critical parts manufacturing prior to key product milestones.
• Manages the transition of new products from pilot production to volume production.
• Uses software tools to perform regular cost rollups and analyze product cost performance to drive corrective action as required to achieve product cost targets, and manage the product cost roadmap prior to production release.
• Works collaboratively with supply chain and engineering stakeholders; develops supplier selection processes for piece parts or outsourced assemblies and identifies supply chain risks supporting sourcing decisions.
• Responsible for resolving discrepancies between cost targets and quoted costs; creates and delivers presentations to program executives and CFT stakeholders.
• Fundamental understanding of should-cost or cost allocation and recognizes opportunities to improve product design for cost/quality/delivery by early supplier involvement.
• Provides feedback to engineering on DFx (cost, manufacturability).

Who We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in continuous improvement or technical program management.
• Experience guiding cross-functional teams and demonstrating influence skills to deliver results.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to audiences at all levels in the Company.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in or knowledge of Semiconductor fabrication, Semiconductor Equipment Operations, or related industries is a plus.
• Knowledge of Program Management methods and experience in Product Development & Release (PDR) procedures.
• Relevant project management certifications such as PMP, CAPM, Scrum Master, or PRINCE2.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and SAP.
• Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Direct experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills.Demonstrated leadership skills, strategic thinking, and attention to detail for everyday tactical execution.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods and commodities as related to cost structure.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools including MS Project, QuickBase, Office Timeline, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Change Management methodologies is a plus.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $86,000.00 - $192,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
