Job summary

Sky Limit Systems is seeking a Technical Program Manager for avionics/aerospace programs in a high-precision environment. You will partner with electrical, software, mechanical, systems, and test engineers to drive programs from concept through certification and delivery.

You will lead PDR/CDR/TRR milestones, manage risk and schedule, and coordinate with customers and regulatory bodies such as FAA/EASA. A strong engineering background and PM experience in aerospace are essential.

Responsibilities

• Own programs from initial requirements through design, qualification, certification, and delivery.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, software, systems, test, quality, manufacturing and supply chain.
• Lead engineering milestones and reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Drive prototype builds, qualification testing, and transition to production.
• Identify risks and remove roadblocks to protect schedule and delivery.
• Engage with customers and aircraft manufacturers on status, requirements, and design changes.
• Align development programs with DO-160/DO-254/DO-178C and FAA/EASA/AS9100 requirements.

Technical Program Manager - Avionics / Aerospace

We're looking for a Technical Program Manager with a strong engineering background to lead new product development programs within a highly technical avionics environment.

This isn't a role for someone who only tracks schedules and action items. We need someone who can sit down with electrical, software, mechanical, systems, and test engineers, understand the technical challenges, and help drive the program forward.

What You'll Do

• Own programs from initial requirements through design, qualification, certification, and delivery
• Manage schedule, budget, scope, milestones, risks, and technical deliverables
• Coordinate electrical, mechanical, software, systems, test, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
• Lead engineering milestones and reviews including PDR, CDR, and TRR
• Drive prototype builds, qualification testing, and transition into production
• Identify technical risks and remove roadblocks before they impact schedule or delivery
• Work directly with customers and aircraft manufacturers on program status, requirements, design changes, and technical issues
• Support development programs aligned with DO-160, DO-254, and DO-178C
• Coordinate with Quality and Certification teams on FAA/EASA and AS9100 requirements

The Technical Side

You don't need to be the engineer designing the product, but you need to understand what your engineering teams are working through.

You'll be involved in conversations around:

• Avionics hardware and electronics
• Embedded software and systems
• Electrical and mechanical design
• Aircraft interfaces and installations
• Wiring and connector design
• Product/system specifications and requirements
• Verification and compliance matrices
• Test plans, technical documentation, and non-conformance issues

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• 7+ years of engineering experience, ideally within avionics, aerospace, or defense
• 5+ years of Project or Program Management experience
• Experience leading new product development / NPI programs
• Strong understanding of engineering development, testing, and manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with DO-160, DO-254, and/or DO-178C
• Experience managing schedules, budgets, risks, requirements, and cross-functional technical teams
• Comfortable working directly with both engineers and customers

Nice to Have

• PMP or similar certification
• Master's degree in Engineering or MBA
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers
• ERP/MRP experience within a manufacturing environment

The profile we're really looking for:

someone who started on the - engineering side and moved into Project/Program Management - but still has the technical depth to challenge engineering teams, understand design issues, and keep complex aerospace programs moving.
