Job summary

Tampa Bay Arena, LLC is seeking a part-time Technical Production Technician to set up, install, operate, test, and troubleshoot audio and video equipment on location for concerts, sports, meetings, and conventions. Availability nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

You will work with event teams to establish cues, ensure proper layout, manage inventory, and deliver World Class Service to guests and end-users.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of related AV experience required.
  • Must be 18 years old with high school diploma or GED.
  • Able to stand long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must communicate in English.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and install microphones, speakers, video screens, projectors, and cables for events.
  • Operate basic sound equipment for events and coordinate with event team on cues.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues; monitor sound quality.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure safe storage/transfer of equipment.
  • Provide World Class Service to end-users and guests.

Job Summary

The part-time Technical Production Technician is responsible for setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment on location for events and functions including concerts, sports, events, watch parties, meetings, and conventions, presentations, and news conferences. This position requires part-time availability that may include nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and install equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, pulling and connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences
  • Set up and operate basic sound equipment for events
  • Confer with meeting/concert director or event team to establish cues and directions
  • Ensure equipment is installed according to the designated layout
  • Test and resolve basic equipment issues
  • Mix sound inputs and feeds and monitor sound feeds to ensure quality
  • Clean audio and other equipment and ensure its proper storage
  • Ensure the safe transfer and shipment of equipment
  • Ensure the safe storage and integrity of data
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and report equipment that require repairs
  • Provide all end-users and guests a positive first impression by offering World Class Service
  • Any additional tasks deemed necessary for proper performance of AV department responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years old with high school diploma or GED required
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment background check screening
  • 1-3 years of related AV experience required

Working Condition
  • Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time, walk long distances and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language
  • Ability to work in areas that can become crowded with equipment and/or people
  • Ability to work comfortably around special effects including, but not limited to: haze, strobe lights, lasers, etc.
  • Ability to work in loud environments
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to walk up to 0.5 miles to and from designated employee parking areas, including in varying earther conditions and during high-traffic event times
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot indoor and outdoor temperatures

Overview

Vanik Sports Group (VSG) is an entity established by Jeff Vinik to manage the three-time Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning (2004, 2020, 2021) of the National Hockey League and hold the leasehold rights to Benchmark International Arena, the 19,092-seat downtown Tampa home in which the team plays its games. The venue opened in 1996 and became Benchmark International Arena in August 2025 when the global mergers and acquisitions firm, Benchmark International, partnered with Vinik and the Lightning. Since 2010, Vinik has led a complete brand and business transformation of the Lightning and the arena, featuring a mostly private renovation of the publicly owned facility. Doug Ostrover and Marc Lipschultz joined the expanded ownership group of Vinik Sports Group in 2024, alongside Arctos, which initially joined in 2021. In addition to owning the Lightning and managing Benchmark International Arena, Vinik Sports Group, through TBSE, manages the Yuengling Center on the campus at the University of South Florida.
