Job summary

Takeda is seeking a Technical Product Owner for AI-native small molecule discovery in Cambridge, MA. You will lead the technical roadmap, backlogs, and delivery cadence for the discovery product family, collaborating closely with a Business Lead to translate science into executable technical plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related technical/scientific field.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in software product ownership, technical program management, or engineering leadership.
• Chemistry knowledge and hands-on chemistry laboratory experience sufficient to understand workflows and engage credibly with chemists.
• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role.
• Strong grounding in Agile/Scrum delivery: backlog management, story writing, sprint planning, release management.
• Hands-on technical background to engage with software engineers, data scientists, and ML scientists.
• Working knowledge of modern software architecture, cloud platforms, data platforms, and AI/ML system design.
• Experience translating ambiguous scientific or business requirements into clear specifications.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to work as a joint leadership pair with the Business Lead.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the technical backlog and delivery roadmap for the Small Molecule discovery product family.
• Translate strategic vision into epics, stories, and technically sequenced releases.
• Partner with the Business Lead as a joint accountable pair for scientific value and technical feasibility.
• Ensure architectural coherence and integration with ELN/LIMS and other platforms.
• Define and track engineering KPIs and coordinate with external partners as needed.
• Identify opportunities where AI/ML can redesign scientific workflows and translate into features.
