Job description

Client is seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead the technical health, readiness, and delivery of a strategic B2B payments product backlog supporting Wire Transfers and Real-Time Payments (RTP). This role sits at the intersection of Product Management, Systems Analysis, Engineering, Architecture, QA, and Operations. The Technical Product Manager will ensure product stories are technically well-defined and build-ready, establish and enforce non-functional requirements, support sprint planning and delivery, and serve as the escalation point for technical trade-offs. The ideal candidate combines strong technical and product judgment with hands‑on payments domain expertise, particularly in regulated B2B payment environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and continuously improve the technical product backlog in partnership with Systems Analysts, Technical Product Owners, and Engineering.
  • Groom and refine technical user stories to ensure clear scope, acceptance criteria, dependencies, technical considerations, and non-functional requirements.
  • Establish appropriate sprint cadence and ensure backlog items meet the Definition of Ready (DoR) before sprint commitment.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product teams to establish and enforce the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Confirm that stories are technically feasible, appropriately sized, and ready for development.
  • Balance delivery of new capabilities with technical-debt reduction and platform sustainability.
Technical Product & Architecture
  • Define, document, and track non-functional requirements (NFRs) across the product lifecycle, including:
    • Performance
    • Scalability
    • Security
    • Resiliency
    • Availability
    • Observability
  • Serve as the escalation point for technical trade-offs and product decisions.
  • Partner closely with Enterprise/Solution Architects to maintain architectural consistency and prevent platform fragmentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to evaluate technical solutions, dependencies, risks, and implementation approaches.
  • Ensure technical decisions align with product objectives, operational requirements, and long‑term platform strategy.
Quality, Testing & Release Readiness
  • Partner with SQA teams on performance, load, integration, and regression testing.
  • Ensure technical requirements and NFRs are incorporated into test strategies and acceptance criteria.
  • Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) readiness.
  • Identify technical risks and dependencies that could impact release timelines or production stability.
  • Own technical production-readiness activities and support post-release stabilization.
  • Partner with Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering teams to incorporate regulatory and risk requirements into product design.
  • Ensure products support appropriate auditability, logging, monitoring, controls, and operational traceability.
  • Support production incident escalation and resolution when technical product decisions or backlog priorities are involved.
  • Ensure product capabilities are designed with operational resiliency and regulatory expectations in mind.
Product Metrics
  • Define and monitor product success metrics related to:
    • Adoption
    • Reliability
    • Scalability
    • Performance
    • Operational efficiency
    • Cost efficiency
  • Use product and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and prioritize the technical backlog.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in Technical Product Management, Technical Product Ownership, Systems Analysis, or a closely related role.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with Engineering, Architecture, QA/SQA, Operations, and Product teams in an Agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of technical product development, backlog management, sprint planning, and technical story refinement.
  • Experience defining and managing non-functional requirements, including performance, security, resiliency, scalability, and observability.
