Job description

The Technical Product Manager owns the technical health and delivery readiness of the payments product backlog. This person works at the intersection of systems analysis, engineering, architecture, and operations — grooming stories to a build-ready state, defining and enforcing non-functional requirements, and serving as the escalation point for technical trade-offs across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Groom technical user stories in partnership with Systems Analysts, and streamline the technical backlog.
  • Identify and set sprint cadence, and ensure backlog items are build-ready (clear scope, dependencies, and NFRs defined).
  • Coordinate with the SQA team on performance and load testing.
  • Define and track product success metrics: adoption, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Own the implementation of non-functional requirements in partnership with Engineering:
  • Performance
  • Security
  • Resiliency
  • Observability
  • Act as the escalation point for technical trade-off decisions.
  • Partner with Architects to prevent platform fragmentation.
  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner and Engineering to define the Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD), and to confirm stories are technically feasible before sprint commitment.
  • Partner with Operations to:
  • Ensure regulatory and risk considerations are built into product design.
  • Validate auditability, logging, and controls.
  • Support UAT and SIT readiness.
  • Own production readiness and post-release stabilization.
Preferred Experience

Priority is given to candidates who have demonstrated experience working closely with engineering, architecture, operations, and QA teams in an agile product delivery environment. Hands-on experience in the following areas is particularly valuable

Payments Platforms & Domain
  • Payment processing platforms such as Finastra, FIS, or Volante.
  • APIs, wire transfers, and real-time payments (RTP).
  • Deep technical and analyst experience within the B2B payments domain, including Wire / RTP.

  • OFAC screening — Fircosoft.
  • AML / BSA regulatory frameworks.
  • Regulatory and risk considerations embedded in product design.
Non-Functional & Engineering Practices
  • Resiliency and observability.
  • Performance and load-testing collaboration with SQA.
  • Agile delivery, DoR / DoD discipline, and sprint planning.
