Job summary

Synectics, based in Sacramento, is seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager to lead a team of technical professionals at the intersection of environmental science and data management. This role focuses on people and operations management, not technical specialization; you will shape performance, workloads, and development while ensuring data integrity and reliable processes.

You will collaborate across teams and clients to align priorities and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience in technical, scientific, engineering, consulting, or similar fields.
• At least 3 years of direct people-management experience.
• Experience supervising multiple projects, clients, or workstreams.
• Experience improving operational or quality-control processes.
• Ability to manage without being the sole technical expert.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop people with day-to-day management, coaching, and support.
• Establish clear accountability and track deliverables.
• Set priorities, coordinate resources, and know when SME input is needed.
• Promote data accuracy, traceability, and quality control.
• Identify root causes and implement process improvements.
• Manage workload and capacity across projects and teams.
• Coordinate across teams and leadership to provide visibility into staffing and risks.
