Position Summary
The Technical Operations Lead is a senior technology leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating the adoption of future-state operational processes and technical solutions for a large-scale enterprise transformation initiative. This position works closely with program leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, implementation partners, and organizational technology groups to ensure successful deployment and ongoing operation of business-critical systems.
The Technical Operations Lead will serve as a key member of the program's technical leadership team and will collaborate across project management, technical, security, testing, change management, and business functions to identify, recommend, and implement effective operational solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Strategy and Governance
- Collaborate with program and organizational leadership to establish future-state operational frameworks, support models, and governance structures.
- Define operational roles, responsibilities, processes, and procedures required to support implementation and ongoing operations.
- Develop and maintain operational readiness plans and transition strategies for post-implementation support.
- Establish processes for managing system maintenance, software upgrades, patches, and ongoing configuration changes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Technology Adoption
- Partner with technology teams, business units, and stakeholders across the organization to support successful solution adoption.
- Serve as the primary liaison for local technology teams regarding operational readiness, implementation planning, access management, testing coordination, and issue resolution.
- Gather, track, and manage technology requirements, risks, dependencies, and operational concerns.
- Coordinate approval processes, implementation activities, and readiness assessments.
Systems Integration and Operational Planning
- Support planning and execution of activities related to system implementations, integrations, migrations, and modernization efforts.
- Coordinate operational requirements for legacy system retirement, data migration, security transitions, and integration strategies.
- Ensure operational plans address compliance, business continuity, service management, and organizational support needs.
- Partner with implementation vendors and internal teams to oversee operational deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
Service Management and Operational Excellence
- Assist in developing and maintaining service management processes and operational support models.
- Monitor service-level agreements (SLAs), operational metrics, and vendor performance.
- Recommend improvements to operational processes, support structures, monitoring capabilities, and system performance.
- Establish operational procedures for incident management, problem management, change management, and escalation processes.
- Support implementation of help desk, hypercare, and production support functions.
Security, Risk, and Compliance
- Work with security, risk, and compliance teams to ensure operational processes align with organizational requirements.
- Review implementation plans for security and compliance considerations.
- Support audit reviews, risk assessments, remediation activities, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
- Assist in developing and maintaining procedures to support organizational security standards and controls.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Coordinate and support testing activities, including system testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, end-to-end testing, performance testing, security testing, and disaster recovery testing.
- Ensure operational readiness requirements are incorporated into testing activities.
- Partner with quality assurance teams to validate solution readiness and operational support capabilities.
- Manage planning, delivery, and implementation of operational work products and technical deliverables.
- Track risks, issues, dependencies, and project progress.
- Provide status reporting and executive-level communications regarding operational readiness and implementation activities.
- Communicate project progress, operational risks, and potential impacts to program leadership.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in technical operations, enterprise technology implementations, or IT service management.
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership roles with responsibility for operational strategy and execution.
- Strong understanding of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments and cloud-based technology solutions.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications through all testing phases, including unit, system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, application interfaces (APIs), and enterprise integration concepts.
- Experience with infrastructure, networking, and security technologies.
- Familiarity with industry-standard frameworks such as ITIL, NIST, ISO 27001, or similar governance and security standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple teams and organizational levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading large-scale SaaS implementation or cloud transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting migration from legacy on-premises systems to cloud-based platforms.
- Demonstrated success managing complex technical environments, integrations, operational support models, and security requirements.
- Experience with project planning, vendor oversight, performance management, and executive reporting.
- Experience developing or supporting data quality programs.
- Experience supporting audit activities, compliance initiatives, and risk management programs.
- Previous experience working in highly regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
