Job summary

Gray Media seeks a Technical Media Producer/Newscast Director in Waco, TX to join our newsroom operations. You will work in the media control center, directing live and pre-taped broadcasts, and collaborate with producers to deliver top-rated newscasts and digital content.

Responsibilities include coordinating live video feeds, monitoring signals, and maintaining studio equipment. Prior TV experience is a plus, with familiarity in HD production and Master Control systems highly desirable.

Job Summary/Description:

KWTX-TV has an immediate, full-time opening for a Technical Media Producer/ Newscast Director. Technical Media Producers work in the media control center, dealing with day-to-day operations for the on-air product, both live and pre-taped.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Work alongside new producers and other newsroom staff to create, code, and direct dynamic, fast-paced, top-rated newscasts, on-air programming, and digital content.


• Coordinate live acquisition of reporters and news video utilizing ENG microwave and IP-based video transmission platforms


• Monitor and maintain on-air signals for KWTX, KNCT, OWTX, and MNCT by ingesting daily programming, commercials, and operating the Master Control automation system


• Monitor and assist in the execution of our digital content via livestreams, podcasts, and digital news shows


• Be responsible for regular care and maintenance of equipment and studio, including lighting, cameras, and sets.

Qualifications/Requirements :

• Flexible to work mornings, nights, weekends, out-of-town assignments, and changing schedules


• Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Able to climb and work on ladders and comfortably lift 30 pounds or more


• Advanced computer literacy is a must


• Strong grasp of visual design, grammar, and spelling


• Must be excellent at multitasking without quality loss


• Good understanding of inventory management and be able to work with large sets of alphanumeric data sets


• While previous television experience is not required, experience with HD video production, Ross Overdrive, Nverzion, VizRT Graphics, V-Mix, Grass Valley ITX Master Control Automation, ENPS and non-linear editing systems is a definite plus
