Job summary

The Industrial Wood Laboratory at Sherwin-Williams is seeking a Technical Manager to lead a team focused on maintaining and supporting existing products, resolving critical customer issues, and ensuring continuity of business operations.

This role coordinates with Industrial Wood Sales, Technical Services, Quality, and Marketing to identify needs and timelines for projects and will manage cross-functional activities to sustain business for IW-Building Products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• 8 years of coating formulation and applications experience.
• 4 years of supervising direct reports and people development.
• Customer-facing interaction experience and product development track record.
• Strong leadership in fast-paced environments and cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical activities to maintain business continuity, resolve customer issues, and support product stewardship.
• Direct resources to meet urgent customer requests and quality improvements.
• Collaborate with Sales, Technical Services, Quality and Marketing to align needs and timelines.
• Drive urgent problem solving, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
• Coach and develop chemists and technicians; promote operational excellence.
• Model calm leadership during escalations and changing priorities.
