Job description

Advantage Engineering Associates, PC is seeking a Technical Manager, Highway Design to join our NJ Office. This position can be based in either of our two office locations: Cranbury, NJ or New York City. The ideal candidate will be capable of supporting and leading the design and development of roadway design projects in various capacities. We are particularly interested in candidates experienced in designing roadway geometry, traffic control and staging plans (TCP), singing and striping, roadside safety features, ADA compliance, utility coordination, creating contract documents (such as specifications, plans, and cost estimates).

Experience working with agencies like NJDOT, NJTA, and PANYNJ is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide highway and civil design services for highway and bridge for NJTA and NJDOT
• Serve as task leader and project manager on select projects
• Perform engineering design tasks for transportation projects from concept development to preliminary and final design, including horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway cross sections, maintenance and protection of traffic signing and striping, drainage design, stormwater management, etc
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and PS&E packages
• Perform field inspections of existing or on-going construction project sites
• Prepare and check design calculations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required
• 15+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience.
• PE License in NJ and/or NY, required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate and be on-track to obtain a PE License within one year, applicable.
• Proficiency in Microstation and AutoCAD preferred
• Experience with InRoads and Civil3D preferred
• Preferred project experience includes either NJDOT or NJTA
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for a Highway Engineer is $175,000 - $220,000. Compensation will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
