Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to provide regulatory and technical leadership across consumer product categories including toys, furniture, home goods and DIY products. You will interpret US/Canadian regulations, support sales teams, develop training, and mentor staff while collaborating with laboratories and industry bodies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 8+ years in testing or compliance, and proven ability to manage multiple complex projects while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years in a testing laboratory or consumer product compliance role.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian consumer product regulations and standards across multiple categories.
• Active participation in standards development organizations (SDOs) and industry committees.
• Experience interpreting and applying technical standards, regulatory requirements, and test methods.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on consumer product safety, regulatory compliance, and testing requirements.
• Interpret U.S. and Canadian regulations, standards, retailer requirements, and test methods for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory developments, standards revisions, enforcement actions, recalls, and trends.
• Provide technical support to sales, account management, and business development teams.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members and laboratory personnel.
• Develop and deliver technical training programs, webinars, workshops, and presentations.
• Create presentations, webinars, technical bulletins and customer-facing materials.
• Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure proper interpretation and application of requirements.
