Job summary

Qnity is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Advanced Characterization Group in Newark, DE. You will lead mechanical and thermal analyses, develop and validate analytical methods, and translate complex results into actionable technical conclusions to support product development and manufacturing challenges.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or an MS with substantial research.
• Strong knowledge of thermal and mechanical principles and techniques.
• Experience developing or applying analytical methods in doctoral or industrial settings.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data processing and modeling.
• Demonstrated problem-solving with attention to detail.
• Effective collaboration across diverse teams.
• Experience with JMP or Minitab for statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical authority in mechanical and thermal analysis.
• Lead development, validation, and optimization of characterization methods.
• Link mechanical/thermal properties to material structure and processing.
• Provide guidance for complex analytical challenges.
• Evaluate emerging analytical technologies to expand lab capabilities.
• Establish best practices for method performance and data quality.
• Design experiments supporting product development and manufacturing challenges.
• Mentor Technologists and Technicians while promoting collaboration.
• Communicate findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Maintain safety in R&D and participate in safety programs.
• Utilize JMP/Minitab for data-driven decisions.
