Job summary

Cresteo is hiring a Software Engineer to transform the tech industry with an honest, people-centric approach. You will develop and maintain software solutions across a diverse stack, while shaping the architecture of distributed services.

You’ll drive engineering standards, mentor peers, and ensure secure, scalable deployments for US-based clients. You will work in a remote-friendly environment with a focus on collaboration, transparency, and tangible impact on product delivery and customer

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x in production environments.
• Extensive experience designing and operating AWS serverless architectures at scale.
• Experience owning architecture and evolution of distributed services across multiple deployments.
• Strong skills in serverless performance tuning, including cold starts and scaling.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform and AWS SAM.
• Proficient in GitLab CI/CD and deployment practices.
• Proven ability to define standards, lead code reviews, and mentor engineers.
• Experience with security, dependency management, and CVE triage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Cresteo software solutions with a diverse tech stack.
• Architect and evolve distributed systems across services and deployments.
• Own delivery ownership and engineering quality, including incident handling.
• Mentor senior engineers and lead architectural reviews.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to communicate risks and trade-offs.

What We're Looking For

• Deep hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x, including production experience migrating applications from Spring Boot 2.x to 3.x
• Strong hands-on software engineering background, with recent experience writing and troubleshooting production code
• Deep experience designing and operating AWS serverless architectures at scale using Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS Proxy, and S3
• Experience owning the architecture and technical evolution of distributed systems composed of multiple independently deployed services
• Strong understanding of serverless runtime and performance considerations, including Lambda cold starts, SnapStart, connection pooling, scalability, and production troubleshooting
• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and AWS SAM
• Strong GitLab CI/CD experience, including pipeline design, environment promotion, release gating, and production deployment practices
• Experience defining engineering standards, leading code reviews, and mentoring senior software engineers
• Strong experience with security and dependency lifecycle management, including CVE triage, dependency/BOM strategies, secrets management, and secret rotation
• Experience identifying and reducing architectural duplication across distributed services through shared libraries, reusable components, or platform engineering practices
• Strong production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to work hands-on with engineers on high-priority incidents
• Experience taking ownership of established codebases and architectures, including transitions from other teams or vendors, is highly valued
• Experience engineering within SOC 2, regulated, or similarly controlled environments is highly valued
• Experience with identity and access management platforms such as Curity, ForgeRock, Ping Identity, Auth0, or equivalent is valued
• Understanding of cost optimization strategies for AWS serverless workloads
• Strong technical leadership and delivery ownership, with accountability for technical decisions, engineering quality, and delivery commitments
• Strong client-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain architecture decisions, technical risks, incidents, and delivery trade-offs clearly
• Professional English communication skills for direct collaboration with client stakeholders
