Technical Lead DevOps TS/SCI With Poly REQUIRED

Position Description

CGI Federal is seeking a Technical DevOps Lead responsible for guiding and overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of DevSecOps (development, security, operations) processes and tools supporting web and mobile applications hosted on cloud and container-based solutions for a Federal Customer. This person will lead the design and implementation of applications’ build, release, deployment, and configuration activities to deliver continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

With a strong technical background in software development, infrastructure management, and automation, the ideal candidate will work closely with IT and application developers to streamline the software development lifecycle and drive innovation and efficiency. Delivery requires a strong presence in the National Capital Region while working in hybrid low and high-side development environments.

This position is located in our Washington DC office

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Lead all DevOps development work required to design, develop, and implement architectures for cloud and container-based web and mobile applications. This includes reporting on progress to Government leads, mission stakeholders, partners and customers at cross-team collaboration meetings and helping to identify opportunities to increase effectiveness, efficiency, scale, and impact.
  • Lead and manage the DevOps team to ensure the quality of release deployments that drive automation and improvements to the release process, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines on cloud and containerized platforms, including low side, high side, and cross-domain environments to enable rapid delivery of capabilities. Development is done on the low side and pushed to high side for application integration.
  • Collaborate with software developers, system operators, and other IT staff to lead the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices, ensuring that infrastructure is defined, managed, and deployed through version-controlled code.
  • Oversee all DevOps work and present overview briefings and updates to Government leads, partners, and customers. This includes reporting on business area progress at performance improvement meetings as well as helping to identify opportunities for increased effectiveness, efficiency, scale, and impact.
  • Assist the CGI Program Manager (PM) and Deputy PM (DPM) in distilling DevOps requirements, communicating them to contract staff, and tracking progress against them.
  • Work closely with technical leads, database architects, data scientists, and Information Systems Security Officers (ISSO) to build and integrate applications and ensure secure and seamless data flow and accessibility with both internal and external systems.
  • Maintain daily communication with Government, CGI and other contractor leads on requirements, mission priorities, performance measures, program goals and milestones, and support needs.
  • Provide a technical need summary to the government program manager and government technical need, giving the client a consolidated roundup across all development efforts, with a special focus on areas that need client intervention.
  • Notify Government, CGI PM and DPM of any issues or trends that pose a risk to mission priorities.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams of software developers, data scientists, system administrators, stakeholders, and clients.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, or similar technical discipline.
  • 10+ years experience in an IT technical role or equivalent.
  • Experience with managed cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) to perform DevOps automation leveraging native AWS security and automation services.
  • Understanding of building new web and database applications and modernizing existing systems to integrate technologies including Angular framework, Node.js, PostgreSQL, NOSQL, and graph databases.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure tasks including DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC, backup and disaster recovery strategies, and implementing both cloud-native and container-based highly available and scalable solutions.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes clustering orchestration, and how to leverage them to automate the deployment, scaling and management of containerized microservice applications and architectures.
  • Understanding of data security and privacy regulations along with knowledge of best practices and regulations like Risk Management Framework (RMF), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) guidance, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 catalog of database security controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate collaboration and teamwork among teams, ensure documentation is clear, concise, and comprehensive to serve as both deliverables as well as a guide to users, developers, and future team members.
