Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers through design and delivery of enterprise solutions. You will collaborate with architects, developers, and business users to ensure alignment with IT standards and business processes.

The role blends hands-on coding with design leadership, mentoring teammates, and shaping technical direction across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalent work experience accepted.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in database technologies.
• 5 years of experience on projects implementing SDLC-based solutions.
• 3 years of experience in systems analysis and high-level design for complex solutions.
• Experience programming and developing with RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, APIs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation on business requirements and functional specifications for designs and software solutions.
• Review development or modification of highly complex enterprise software solutions.
• Balance design/mentorship with hands-on coding delivery (~50/50).
• Develop and validate highly complex software design prototypes per architecture standards.
• Contribute to technical direction for development/configuration of integrated solutions.
• Ensure detailed requirements/design/test scripts are documented for enhancements.
