About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Interior Designer who is equal parts meticulous and creative—someone who finds joy in the finer details of the design process and takes pride in turning vision into buildable reality.

This role is central to how we execute and deliver our projects. You'll be responsible for producing and maintaining technical drawings and specifications, coordinating with vendors and trades, and supporting the project team in shepherding projects from concept to installation.

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, process-minded, and aligned with our design philosophy of elevated, livable interiors rooted in a sense of place.

Candidates based in Vermont will be prioritized but we are open to remote candidates who are open to travel for projects as well.

What You’ll DoDesign Documentation & Detailing

• Draft and update detailed drawing sets for custom residential and small-scale commercial projects—including floor plans, elevations, RCPs, millwork details, and finish plans.
• Translate conceptual design into fully-realized technical drawings that are clear, concise, and buildable.
• Develop and manage specifications for finishes, fixtures, and furnishings, ensuring every detail aligns with design intent and client needs.
• Create and maintain site binders and job books with all current drawings, spec sheets, and trade directives.

Project Coordination

• Track project timelines, lead times, and design deliverables to support seamless execution.
• Maintain and regularly update internal and client-facing selection sheets.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure they’re working from the latest design documentation and specifications.
• Attend site visits for field verification, project walkthroughs, and installations.

Procurement & Vendor Communication

• Source and order finishes, fixtures, and materials based on approved selections.
• Confirm lead times, availability, and pricing—proactively communicating delays or changes to the team.
• Manage order tracking, sidemarking, deliveries, and returns with precision.
• Collaborate closely with trade vendors and receivers to ensure a smooth and detail-oriented process.

Installation & Execution Support

• Provide on-site support for installations, directing placement and verifying design accuracy.
• Assist in final styling, inventory coordination, and punch list documentation.
• Support the team in upholding a high standard of presentation and care throughout the installation process.

This position could be for you if…

• Completion of a four year program in interior design or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience in high-end residential interior design, architecture, or a related field.
• Ability to hit the ground running in this role after a brief onboarding period.
• Have strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and the Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, etc.).
• Understand how to translate vision into documentation and enjoy the technical side of design.
• Are highly organized, deadline-driven, and unfazed by shifting timelines or multiple moving parts.
• Thrive in a collaborative studio setting but are self-motivated and confident working independently.
• Communicate clearly and thoughtfully—with clients, vendors, trades, and team members alike.
• Appreciate the soul and story behind historic homes, and the importance of marrying beauty with function.

Compensation & Schedule

• Competitive hourly or salaried compensation strongly dependent upon experience.
• Hybrid flexibility: primarily remote with periodic travel to job sites throughout Vermont or Palm Beach.
• Opportunity to grow within a small, dedicated team designing homes with character, purpose, and heart.
