Amazon Robotics is seeking a uniquely talented, highly motivated and strong technical infrastructure program manager to drive multiple initiatives that support our continued and rapid growth and retrofitting in North America. You will form part of a small, but high-profile team of Technical Integration specialists that collaborate alongside our construction, hardware engineering and deployment engineering partners to deliver complex robotics facilities. The Technical Integration team’s primary goal is to ensure that critical technical and environmental requirements are correctly interpreted and incorporated into all new robotics buildings and that the delivered environment is both compliant to specification and fit for purpose. The Technical Integration Program Manager – Amazon Robotics, position is to be based in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
The ideal candidate will have a strong construction management or fulfilment centre engineering background with experience of warehouse automation, robotics picking/transportation systems or highly automated plant & machinery. The candidate will need to be an experienced leader/manager with strong analytical capabilities and a track record of managing complex engineering projects or programs. The candidate should ideally possess technical consulting experience with proven program or project management skills, as well as excellent listening, communication and facilitation skills. First hand experience with high-tolerance facility design and construction, would be advantageous.
This position involves regular communication with senior management on progress, risk management and problem resolution. The position requires an ability to lead cross functional and multi-disciplinary teams. We expect that our technical managers have the ability to operate independently.
This job will require a unique combination of energy, flexibility, tenacity, leadership skills, and proactive management. It also requires travel, up to 40-50% of overall time, to locations across North America.
- A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, construction or surveying related field
- 6+ years’ experience managing engineering or construction projects related to either fulfillment center, distribution/logistics or industrial buildings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills gained in an engineering or highly technical environment.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience managing highly technical projects, involving either warehouse or factory automation or some other large scale technical implementation.
- Ability to lead and manage cross-functional, multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
- Ability to read drawings in AutoCAD.
- Willingness to travel 40-50% of the year
- MBA or MS in Engineering, Management or a related technical field supplemented with program management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize critical tasks with a high attention to detail
