Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in San Diego, CA seeks a Technical Illustrator I to create infographics and technical visuals for customer documentation.

You will modify existing assets for manuals and reviews, and generate 3D views and exploded assemblies to clearly depict components and assemblies. The role requires proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, SolidWorks Visualize/Composer, KeyShot 10, and Adobe Creative Suite, plus strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in graphic design or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of experience as a Design/Drafter, Technical Illustrator or Graphic Designer.
• Proficiency in engineering drawing print reading with imperial and metric units.
• Understanding of engineering BOMs and materials specifications.
• Proficiency in the listed CAD/graphic tools and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Create infographics, technical illustrations, and photographs for customer documentation.
• Modify existing digital assets for technical manuals, QRGs, CDRLs, and design reviews.
• Generate orthographic/angle views to depict component relationships.
• Create exploded assembly views.
• Produce simplified graphics from complex concepts.
• Prepare simplified 3D CAD models for internal/external use in formats such as .obj, .step, .sldprt, .fbx, .iges, .stl.
• Export graphics maintaining version control and consistency.
• Maintain central repository of graphics and ensure brand consistency.
• Provide surge support for extended hours to meet tight deadlines.
