Job summary

Eccalon LLC is seeking an experienced Technical Hiring Manager to lead and execute high-impact technical hiring across the organization in Detroit, MI. The role requires deep engineering expertise, strong judgment, and partnership with engineering leadership to attract world-class talent.

The ideal candidate will design interview frameworks, conduct technical interviews, and drive end-to-end hiring strategy for software engineers and platform roles, ensuring high standards and long-term system

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or technical leadership
• Proven experience as a hiring manager for software engineers and technical roles
• Deep understanding of modern software systems and platforms, including distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, data-intensive and high-availability systems

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical hiring strategies for software engineers and technical roles
• Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to forecast hiring needs aligned to platform and system roadmaps
• Define hiring priorities based on platform complexity, scalability requirements, and long-term architecture goals
• Establish consistent, high-bar technical hiring standards across teams
• Design and oversee interview frameworks that assess system design, platform thinking, and engineering depth
• Personally conduct technical interviews covering architecture, scalability, and code quality
• Evaluate candidates' experience with large-scale, distributed or cloud-native systems
• Act as a technical advisor on role definition, leveling, and scope
• Improve technical hiring processes for fairness and consistency
• Train and calibrate interviewers on system- and platform-level evaluation
• Partner with Talent Acquisition on candidate experience and pipeline health
• Track hiring outcomes and iterate on interview quality and effectiveness
• Work with HR and engineering leadership to align hiring with company values and culture
• Advocate for best practices in technical hiring, diversity, and inclusion
• Represent engineering standards in hiring forums and executive discussions
