Job summary

BMW Group in Santa Monica, CA is seeking a Technical Field Analyst to support Western Region litigation-related service activities. The role involves inspecting vehicles, delivering technical guidance to BMW centers and MINI dealers, and documenting findings with precision.

Ideal candidates hold BMW Master Technician certification with relevant specialties, ASE certification preferred, and 5+ years of master-tech experience (or 10+ years luxury-brand equivalency). Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Certified BMW Master Technician with all specialties.
• ASE Certification is preferred.
• 5+ years as a Master Technician or 10+ years in premium-brand Master Technician equivalency.
• Ability to diagnose complex technical issues.
• Ability to work in workshop conditions, including outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support for Western Region consumer litigation cases to improve service quality.
• Delivers technical assistance to BMW centers and MINI dealers by phone and on-site visits for litigated vehicles.
• Documents all technical guidance and assistance accurately and thoroughly.
• Conducts vehicle inspections to assess eligibility for repurchase under federal and state laws.
• Exercises discretion to offer remedies including vehicle repurchase, repairs, goodwill payments, or loyalty credits.
• Applies deep knowledge of federal and state consumer warranty and fraud laws, particularly California standards, and clearly documents decision rationale for legal defense.
• Acts as a company representative and technical expert in legal proceedings, provides feedback to counsel and engineering leadership, and travels as required.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.

• Certified BMW Master Technician including all associated specialties
• ASE Certification, preferred
• 5+ years experience as a Master Technician or 10+ years experience as a premium brand Master Technician equivalency in training certifications
• Must have the ability to perform diagnoses of complex technical issues
• Must be able to work in workshop conditions, including outside

Relocation is available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position is $62,500.00 - $125,000.00.

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.
