Job summary

Coalfire is seeking a technically strong, self-starter Consultant to join our FedRAMP Assessment team in a flexible work model. You will review artifacts, IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and logs to validate control implementations while researching vendor documentation and collaborating with client engineers.

The role emphasizes independent inquiry, rigorous testing, and progress toward FedRAMP Assessor responsibilities, with mentoring from senior staff. Travel up to 20% is required.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in a technical IT role.
• Ability to read and interpret technical artifacts in detail.
• Self-starter who researches configurations and vendor docs.
• Strong networking fundamentals and secure service concepts.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-37/800-53/800-53A revisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead federal compliance assessments (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST 800-171, FISMA) with mentors.
• Review artifacts, configuration files, logs, and network diagrams for control alignment.
• Analyze IaC templates and CI/CD configs to validate baselines.
• Use scripting to parse large artifact sets for testing.
• Research unfamiliar tech and relate findings to controls.
• Draft audit observations and assessment reports.
