Job summary

PACIV is seeking a Technical Estimator to join the Business Development team in Indianapolis, IN. This role evaluates project opportunities, develops cost estimates, prepares proposals, and supports automation, validation, instrumentation, and engineering projects.

The ideal candidate has a engineering background and 3+ years of technical estimating experience, with knowledge of automation, controls, instrumentation, or CQV engineering services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of technical estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of Automation, Controls, Instrumentation, or CQV Engineering services is required.
  • Experience reviewing technical specifications, scopes of work, and engineering documentation is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Interest in professional growth through networking, industry involvement, and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities supporting PACIV's Automation, Validation, Panel Fabrication, and Instrumentation services.
  • Review project documents (RFPs, SOWs, specs, drawings) to develop accurate estimates and proposals.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and project execution.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders on proposals.
  • Communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors for pricing and project info.
  • Maintain awareness of PACIV's capabilities, resources, and delivery capacity.
  • Partner with Recruiting and Operations to align opportunities with workforce needs.
  • Stay current on industrial automation technologies and industry best practices.
  • Build and maintain client relationships by understanding needs and proposing PACIV solutions.
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.

Location: Indianapolis, IN

PACIV (Process Automation, Controls, Instrumentation & Validation) delivers automation, controls, instrumentation, and validation solutions to manufacturing and regulated industries. We are looking for a Technical Estimator to join our Business Development team in Indianapolis, IN. This position is responsible for evaluating project opportunities, developing cost estimates, preparing proposals, and supporting the pursuit of automation, validation, instrumentation, and engineering projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys analyzing project requirements, collaborating with technical teams, and helping customers identify solutions that support their operational goals.

What You Will Do
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities that support the growth of PACIV's Automation, Validation, Panel Fabrication, and Instrumentation services
  • Review project documentation including RFPs, Statements of Work (SOWs), specifications, and drawing packages to develop accurate project estimates and proposals
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and project execution
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to develop technically sound proposals
  • Communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and project-specific information
  • Maintain awareness of PACIV's technical capabilities, available resources, and project delivery capacity
  • Partner with Recruiting and Operations teams to align project opportunities with workforce capabilities and future hiring needs
  • Stay current on industrial automation technologies, engineering services trends, and industry best practices
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding business needs and recommending appropriate PACIV solutions
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and professional networking events as assigned

  • Experience reviewing technical specifications, scopes of work, and engineering documentation required
