Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is seeking a technical writer to research, document, and develop operator, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, and training materials for complex systems.

You will gather information from engineering data, specifications, and interviews with experts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual requirements. The role requires clear communication and the ability to handle sensitive information.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent training with 1+ year in a technical field.
• Basic technical understanding of military or commercial systems and technical writing standards.
• Experience with computer-based tools used to produce technical documentation.
• Strong organization, quick concept grasp, confidentiality and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Researches, documents and develops operator, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, technical specs, alert bulletins, training materials and other documents.
• Collects and analyzes technical information from publications, drawings, test procedures and interviews with experts.
• Ensures documents meet requested specs and contractual requirements, including any necessary illustrations or graphics.
• Ensures final materials clearly communicate technical information and data to audiences.
• Coordinates technical document reviews and approval signatures, including security classification as needed.
• Complies with laws, regulations, and company obligations while performing duties.
• Works safely according to established operating practices; performs other duties as assigned.
