Job summary

Van Wyck & Van Wyck is seeking a Technical Director to lead the technical planning and execution of its large-scale events and complex temporary installations in New York. You will own the technical vision, standards, and on-site delivery across projects, collaborating with project managers, designers, fabricators, engineers, and vendors.

The role requires hands-on leadership across lighting, AV, power distribution, rigging, and CAD work, with the ability to mentor teams and manage critical

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technical event production across lighting, AV, rigging, tenting, and HVAC
• AutoCAD drafting for floor plans, load calculations, power distribution, and rigging plots
• Strong knowledge of rigging, electrical load calculations, and life-safety code compliance
• Experience mentoring Production Managers and staff
• Budget management experience across a department or portfolio
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally

Responsibilities

• Set technical standards and specifications for lighting, audio-visual, HVAC, rigging, tenting, and floor plan systems across events
• Produce advanced technical drawings and floor plans in AutoCAD for complex builds and review vendor drawings
• Review CAD floor plans, load calculations, power distribution plans, and rigging plots for compliance
• Lead technical pre-production for large-scale events and coordinate with engineers and vendors
• Direct and mentor on-site technical staff and manage vendor relationships
• Own department budget and ensure safety/compliance across markets
