Job summary

Van Wyck & Van Wyck, based in New York, seeks a Technical Director to own technical vision, standards, and execution across all events. This senior, hands-on role moves fluidly between CAD floorplans, rigging reviews, load calculations, and mentoring project teams.

Travel 25–30% and reports to senior leadership. The candidate partners with design, reviews complex builds on-site, and sets safety, electrical, and life-safety standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technical event production.
• AutoCAD proficiency required.
• Rigging, electrical load, life-safety knowledge.
• Mentoring Production Managers and staff.
• Contract negotiations with major technical vendors.
• Department budget management; travel nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Set technical standards and specs for lighting, AV, HVAC, rigging, tenting, and floor plan systems.
• Produce advanced AutoCAD floor plans and review vendor drawings.
• Review CAD floor plans, load calculations, power distribution and rigging plots for compliance.
• Lead technical pre-production for large events with site surveys and engineering coordination.
• Mentor and lead on-site technical staff; manage vendor relationships.
