Technical Director, Environmental Engineer – PFAS Remediation SME (Director Level)

Overview

ERM is seeking a Technical Director to join our Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) technical team. In this role, you will lead technical strategy and project support on PFAS site investigation and remediation for clients across various regions. We are open to candidates in multiple US and Canadian locations.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on PFAS across projects, including site investigation, remediation, product stewardship, and compliance.
  2. Collaborate with North American leadership to develop a global PFAS market strategy.
  3. Manage and provide expertise on complex site investigation and remediation projects in various industrial sectors.
  4. Design and oversee remediation solutions for contaminated media using innovative and traditional technologies.
  5. Assist clients with contaminated site management strategies.
  6. Evaluate remedial technologies for site-specific applicability.
  7. Perform remediation design tasks, including data evaluation, calculations, cost estimation, and report preparation.
  8. Delegate tasks and mentor junior staff.
  9. Prepare technical proposals and support business development efforts.
  10. Build collaborative relationships within ERM.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, geology, or hydrogeology.
  2. Minimum 8 years consulting experience, with 15+ preferred, working with industrial clients on complex remediation projects under various regulatory frameworks.
  3. Expertise in PFAS topics, demonstrated through publications or conference presentations.
  4. Experience leading remediation projects and preparing detailed technical reports.
  5. Strong regulatory interaction skills.
  6. Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
  7. Up-to-date HAZWOPER 40-hour and OSHA 30-hour safety training.

The annual base salary range for this position is approximately $147,670 – $198,032 USD, based on experience and other factors. The role is eligible for performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
