Job summary

BY DESIGN seeks an experienced Technical Designer specializing in women’s bottoms to bridge design and production. You will manage the fit development process from initial tech pack creation through final production approval, with expert knowledge of pant and skirt construction, pattern making, fabric drape, and fit across diverse body types.

The role requires 1–5+ years in technical design for women's bottoms, a degree in apparel/fashion design or pattern making, and proficiency in Illustrator,

Qualifications

• 1–5+ years of experience in technical design, specifically focused on women's bottoms/pants/skirts.
• Degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Pattern Making, or related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and PLM software (Centric, Gerber, or similar).
• Deep knowledge of garment construction, stitch types, pattern making, and fabric characteristics (woven, stretch, and knit).

Responsibilities

• Tech Pack Development: Create and maintain detailed tech packs, including precise measurement charts, grading rules, sewing construction details.
• Fit Session Leadership: Lead fit sessions on live models or mannequins, accurately evaluating garment balance, proportion, and ease.
• Vendor Communication: Issue clear, concise, and illustrative fit comments to international and domestic vendors to minimize correction rounds.
• Pattern Correction: Analyze pattern corrections and collaborate with design and factories to resolve complex fit issues.
• Quality & Consistency: Establish and maintain brand fit consistency across all bottoms categories

The ideal candidate has an expert understanding of pant and skirt construction, pattern making, fabric drape, and how to achieve the perfect fit across diverse body types.
