Job description

About the Role

As a Textiles Technical Designer, you’ll work under the guidance of the Textiles Head Design Manager and in close partnership with Costume Designers to bring imaginative product lines to life. From baby pajamas and robes to seasonal home goods like Easter basket liners and decorative buckets, you’ll be responsible for turning creative vision into production-ready designs. You’ll own the technical development process—creating detailed specs, managing fit sessions, and ensuring product consistency from sketch to final sample—all while maintaining high quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed tech packs for costumes, apparel (pajamas, robes), baby gifting, and seasonal textile products
  • Translate design sketches into clear technical specifications while preserving design intent
  • Lead fit sessions and provide guidance on pattern corrections, garment construction, and finishing techniques
  • Collaborate with overseas vendors on sample development, construction methods, and final approvals
  • Evaluate prototypes and production samples for quality, fit, and compliance
  • Maintain consistency in fit and sizing across multiple product categories and size ranges
  • Troubleshoot construction and fabrication issues, and ensure timely resolution

You Are…

  • A thoughtful collaborator who supports creative thinking in others
  • Passionate about quality and precision in every detail
  • Hands-on and skilled in draping, sewing, and mock-up creation (a strong plus)
  • Able to manage multiple projects and seasonal deadlines with efficiency and focus

Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical design for costumes or complex apparel
  • Expertise in garment construction, pattern drafting, and fit development
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, AutoCAD (3D rendering tools), and PLM systems
  • Strong communication skills, especially with cross-functional and international vendor teams
  • Detail-oriented mindset with creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience across varied size ranges (baby, kids, adults — pets a bonus!)
  • This role requires being onsite in the San Francisco office Monday through Thursday and Friday as optional in the office
