Job summary

Dreamwear is seeking a Technical Designer to drive fit and construction for our sleepwear lines in New York. You will lead live-model fittings, manage sample flow, and update tech packs across multiple product categories.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years in technical design, a pattern making background, and proficiency in Excel, Illustrator, and Photoshop. This role requires independent leadership and strong organizational skills in a fast-paced wholesale setting.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of prior experience in Technical design.
• Degree in pattern making and Technical design is preferred.
• Self-starter with ability to lead and function independently.
• Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Team player with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead fittings on live models and convey comments to factories.
• Prioritize and manage sample tracking and fit approvals from first fit through TOP.
• Create initial specs from sketches or samples and update tech packs.
• Collaborate with designers and product development on specs and construction.
• Independently track and prioritize sample flow; check/approve pre-production samples.
• Spec out fit garments in all categories.

We are entering an exciting period of growth with the addition of two renowned luxury sleepwear brands to our portfolio: Cosabella and Hanky Panky. We need to bring on a Technical Designer to assist with the new volume.

Our Technical Design team is responsible for everything related to the fit of our garments. They create tech packs, schedule fittings, and work with the factories to ensure the desired look of fit is achieved . The Technical Designer will lead the fits, manage the factory partners and mentor the more junior members of the team. The ideal candidate will be passionate, self-motivated, eager to learn and able to execute these essential responsibilities:

• Lead fittings on live models and convey fit comments and construction comments to factories independently.
• Prioritize and manage sample tracking and fit approvals from first fit through TOP, making sure all deadlines are met.
• Create initial specs based off a sketch and/or samples from Design Team and update technical packs for multiple product categories.
• Collaborate with designers and product development on product design to provide technical expertise on specs and construction.
• Independently track and prioritize sample flow
• Check and approve pre-production samples independently
• Spec out fit garments in all categories.

Qualifications:

• 6-8 years of prior experience in Technical design
• Degree in pattern making and Technical design is preferred
• Self-starter with ability to lead and function independently
• Great attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Team player with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment, strong communication skills and necessary follow through
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Work, Adobe Illustrator, and PhotoShop
