Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. is seeking a full-time Technical Designer for the Childrenswear team, on-site at the Midtown Manhattan office.

You will work across tops, dresses, and knits for girls and boys (sizes 2T–16), participate in fit sessions, create tech packs, and communicate corrections to factories. The ideal candidate has a degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design, 5+ years in technical design, proficiency with PLM and Excel, and knowledge of grading and garment safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design required.
• 5+ years experience in Technical Design.
• Knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics.
• Proficient in PLM and Excel.
• Clo3D helpful.

Responsibilities

• Create initial tech packs for costing and fit sample submits.
• Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes.
• Identify and call out fit/construction/workmanship issues to factories.
• Communicate corrections and revisions to factories daily.
• Ensure corrections at pre-production sample stage for production quality.
• Work with private label accounts to achieve desired fit.
• Maintain knowledge of grading and graded specs.
• Adhere to calendars to meet deadlines.
• Build collaborative relationships with design, merchandising, production and sales.
