Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. in New York, NY, is seeking a full-time Technical Designer for the Children's division.

You will partner with design, merchandising, production, and sales to ensure fit, construction, and product integrity across tops, dresses, and sets for girls and boys (2T–16). This on-site Midtown Manhattan role requires 5+ years in technical design, strong sewing/construction knowledge, and proficiency with PLM and Excel; Clo3D is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design required.
• 5+ years experience in Technical Design.
• Knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics.
• Proficient in PLM and Excel.
• Clo3D knowledge is a plus.
• Attention to detail, sense of urgency, willingness to learn, team-player.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with multiple product categories (tops, dresses, skirts, pants, athleisure, sweaters, sleepwear) for Girls and Boys divisions (sizes 2T–16) Knits and Wovens.
• Accurately measure Fit/PP/TOP samples.
• Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes.
• Identify and call out fit/construction/workmanship issues and communicate corrections to factory.
• Create initial tech packs for costing and fit sample submits.
• Ensure corrections are made at pre-production samples to perfect fit and quality.
• Collaborate with private label accounts to achieve desired fit.
• Understand children’s apparel safety regulations and grading specs.
• Communicate with factories daily to send fit comments/tech packs and resolve questions.
• Adhere to calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
• Track and manage sample status; maintain organized sample library.
• Build relationships with design, merchandising, production, and sales.
