Job summary

Gensler's Raleigh team is seeking a Technical Designer - Junior to contribute to design and delivery of regional projects. You will join a collaborative, client-focused culture that balances design quality, resilience, and social purpose.

The role emphasizes proficiency in Revit and Rhino, involvement across all project phases, and effective communication with consultants and regulators. Office-based, not remote, in Raleigh.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited program.
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in commercial design.
  • Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques.
  • Experience through all design phases from schematic through construction administration.
  • Strong Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and Illustrator skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Architects and Interior Designers to realize design concepts.
  • Produce technical drawings and project progress updates.
  • Design functional, aesthetic spaces for clients.
  • Develop rapid design iteration drawings and diagrams in Revit and Rhino.
  • Support design through all phases from concept to construction.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and regulators.
  • Create hand drawings and 3D renderings to communicate ideas.

Description

Your Role

As a Technical Designer with Gensler's team in Raleigh you will contribute to the design and delivery of impactful projects in the region. You will bring together design excellence, technical rigor, and strategic thinking to deliver architecture that is both deeply functional and experientially rich. You will work within a highly collaborative, client-focused culture that values design quality, resilience, and social purpose.


What You Will Do


  • Collaborate with a team of Architects and Interior Designers that bring design dreams to life through innovative problem solving and design best practices

  • Produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members to ensure success

  • Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces for our clients

  • Develop rapid design iteration drawings, details, and diagrams using Revit, and other routine use of tools such as Rhino

  • Support all phases of the design project from conceptual/schematic design through construction administration

  • Support coordination with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives

  • Utilize hand drawings and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts


Your Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited program

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience within a commercial design firm

  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred

  • Experience with all phases of the design process from schematic design through construction administration, and field observation is preferred

  • Strong proficiency with Revit, Enscape, SketchUp and Rhino

  • Proficiency with other 3D modeling software, AI visualization tools, and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication, in English, organization, and collaboration skills

  • Passion for design excellence and continuous learning with motivation and nimbleness to adapt to project-based needs

  • Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices, LEED accreditation is a plus.
